Day 1: Arrival - Hanoi
Upon arrival at Noi Bai Airport, Viet Bamboo Travel’s guide and driver will pick you up and transfer to hotel for check in. Overnight in Hanoi.
Day 2: Hanoi - Halong Bay (B, L, D)
07:30 - 07:45 Pick up from your hotel in Hanoi. Drive to Halong Bay. Enjoy the peaceful scenery as we travel through the countryside, farmlands and Red River delta.
10:30 Stopover on the way for short break
12:30 Arrive at Hon Gai wharf - Meet the captain, crews and join us for a welcome drink, cruise briefing, safety instructions and check-in cabins.
13:00 Lunch with fresh seafood is served while cruising towards Vong Vieng floating village, passing through extraordinary shaped-islands.
15:30 Drop anchor at Vong Vieng: visit local houses, fish farm, schools and have a chat with the friendly fish men. (You also swim here if you like) The other option is to travel by kayak (passenger row kayaks for themselves). The kayaking option is $10.00 per person unless pre-booked.
17:00 Back on board, enjoy the sunset and continue cruising to Luom Bo for anchoring.
19:00 Dinner is served.
21:00 Enjoy the comfort in your cabin or night fishing… Overnight on junk.
Day 3: Halong Bay - Hanoi - Lao Cai (BR, D) - by night train
06:30 Enjoy the bay’s morning landscape with a cup of tea or coffee.
07:30 Lightly breakfast is served.
08:30 Explore the mystery of Sung Sot cave, one of the most beautiful caves in Halong Bay.
09:30 Back on board, continue cruising, enjoy the stunning views of the Bay and relax.
10:30 Lunch is served on board while cruising back through Halong Bay to the pier.
12:00 Arrive Hon Gai wharf. Farewell.
12:30 Return from Halong to Hanoi.
14:30 Stop-over in Dong Trieu town to visit a ceramics workshop.
16:30 Arrive in Hanoi.
19:45 VBT’s guide will pick you up to rail station for the night train to Lao Cai. Overnight on train.
Day 4: Lao Cai - Sapa - Y Linh Ho - Lao Chai - Ta Van (B, L)
Train arrives early in Lao Cai. After breakfast at the restarant. We will walk around Sapa town for a glimpse of the town and visit Sapa central market. Take a scenic drive out of the town, following the only road built on the side of a mountain range, looking down the valley, over viewing magnificent landscapes composed of high mountains, deep valleys, and stream of water winding, waterfalls and terraced rice paddies and drop us at on the roadside in order to start our trek down to the river and Y Linh Ho village and keep on to Lao Chai village and Ta Van villages of different ethnic group with beautiful views of rice terraces, moutains and also interesting local life. Walking through the village of Y Linh Ho (home of Red Dzao), Lao Chai (home of Blac H’Mong) and Tavan (home of Dzay) with many encounter with locals and home visits (Including visit to local school in Sapa and visit in local house (to see or for tea). Today’s trek end in Ta Van in late afternoon and we will be transfer back to Sapa from Ta Van by private van. Overnight in Sapa.
Day 5: Sapa - Cat Cat (B, L)
After breakfast at the hotel, we will take a shot walking tour (around 3 hours) to Cat Cat village and back (please note we cannot drive that day). We walk around this authentic village of Black Hmong. You will many opportunities to enjoy simple local life, the peace and nice scenery with friendly locals. Lunch at the hotel. In the afternoon we will rest at the hotel or have a walking tour in Sapa city. Overnight in Sapa.
Day 6: Sapa - Bac Ha Market - Lao Cai - Hanoi (B, L) - by night train
After the breakfast, we go to the Bac Ha market for two hours by a private car (AC). This is the largest market in the region, a place where many ethnic groups gather to buy and sell, eat and drink together. There are 10 minority groups in the Bac Ha region. You can buy homemade handicrafts and clothes. In the afternoon we will have a 2 hour trek to Ban Pho village (Flower H’Mong people). In the village we can have a look in their house and understand little more about their lifestyle and traditional customs. Especially, we can try homemade wine from corn. Then transfer to the station in Lao Cai for the night train back to Hanoi at 20:15, arrive around 05:00. Overnight on train.
Day 7: Hanoi City Tour (B, L)
Train arrives Hanoi at 05:00, we go to Hoan Kiem lake to see hundreds of local people doing Taichi on its side. Walk around the old streets before coming back to the hotel for a shower to fresh up and buffet breakfast there.
You are met at 08:30 in the hotel lobby. There is a morning and afternoon schedule, as well as an organised lunch. Morning: Ho Chi Minh Complex including the Mausoleum, his former stilt-house residence, the Presidential Palace and the Ho Chi Minh Museum; The Temple of Literature; A local Vietnamese lunch. Afternoon: A traditional performance of the famous Vietnamese water puppets; Ngoc Son Temple and Hoan Kiem Lake; A one-hour cyclo tour through the narrow, chaotic streets of the Old Quarter - a must for any visitor to Hanoi! You will finish city tour round 17:00. Come back hotel. Overnight in Hanoi.
Day 8: Hanoi - Da Nang - Hoi An (B, L) - by flight
After breakfast in our hotel, transfer you to airport for flight to Hoi An. Tour guide pick up you at the airport. Start walking tour with numerous places of interest: the 400-year old Japanese Covered Bridge, the Phuc Kien Assembly Halls, museum, private family’s ancient house and lantern-making family. Walk along the narrow lanes lined, we walk through houses influenced by Chinese, Japanese, French and European architectures, then you will have chance to enjoy a traditional music performance in an ancient house. In the afternoon, we take a boat to Trang Bong carpentry village & Thanh Ha pottery village in Hoi An suburds where we will cycling around to visit craft making family, encounter local people and get to know about local life. Travel by boat or cycle back to Hoi An. Overnight in Hoi An.
Day 9: Hoi An - Tra Que Village (B, L)
After breakfast, we take a tour to Tra Que Vegetable Village - Lantern Making Tour. We will ride a normal bicycle to visit Tra Que village, the cultivation of the vegetables as well as discovering about the use of vegetables in traditional Vietnamese medicine and traditional foot massage for all the family. You will take a trip around the vegetable garden and join the farmers. Afternoon, free time in Hoi An. Overnight in Hoi An.
Day 10: Hoi An - Da Nang - Saigon - Mekong Delta (B, L) - by flight
After breakfast in our hotel, transfer you to airport for flight to Saigon. Airport pickup and transfer to a scenic drive to Cai Be with green rice paddy on sides. Board your boat to go through a maze of shadow canals to arrive at a great orchard where you can freely taste many famous tropical Vietnamese fruits and watch locals’ daily chores. Then we will ride bicycles and roam through a village to check out several rural shops or we can relax on a hammock for a short rest. We’ll see how coconut candy and crispy rice cake are made here (served free with premium hot tea). After this, we will land on a marketplace in Ving Long and walk around to see local life and merchandises. We spend about half an hour here and then take our car and travel to Can Tho. Overnight in Can Tho.
Day 11: Can Tho - Cai Rang Floating Market - Saigon (B, L)
Morning boat ride to visit the Cai Rang floating market. Take in the beautiful scenery and the daily activities of the locals who lives along the Mekong canals by cruising along the small and picturesque tributaries. Roam through the village to visit rice husking mill factory & visit an ancient house in Binh Thuy Drive back to Saigon with stop to visit Binh Tay market (Big Market) and Thien Hau Pagoda in China town area. Arrive to Saigon before 16:30, if have time take a short walking city tour in Saigon. Dinner at Chabad house. Overnight in Saigon.
Day 12: Saigon City Tour (B, L)
At 08:30, you will be a picked up from your hotel. In the morning we visit: The Reunification Palace; War Remnants Museum; Notre Dame Cathedral and Old Post Office. After lunch at local restaurant we continue to visit: Giac Lam Pagoda; Cholon, including the Thien Hau Pagoda; Ben Thanh Market. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh city.
Day 13: Saigon - Cu Chi Tunnels - Departure (B, L)
08:00 Pick you up at hotel. Transfer to the Cu Chi Tunnels (75 km from downtown). Visit Cu Chi tunnels with watching documentary film, witness hand-made weapon gallery (gun, land mine, bamboo traps,…), crawl into the real tunnels. Back to Ho Chi Minh city. Have lunch. After that, we drive to the airport for your international flight. End of services.
